Meet Brayden Wyeth, a talented Beauty Therapist and now the QLD & NT Technical Trainer for Laser Clinics Australia. After graduating from The French in 2020, Brayden has since embarked on an exciting journey in the aesthetics industry, making a name for himself with his expertise in laser technology and dedicating his passion to helping others feel confident in their own skin.

From experiencing acne in his teenage years to understanding the intricate structure of the skin, Brayden’s journey in beauty therapy has been fueled by a desire to provide outstanding results for his clients. “I have experienced the impact of skin concerns on self-confidence firsthand, and I wanted to learn how to holistically treat the skin,” Brayden shares with us. “And the best part? Lasers are super fun!”

Choosing The French Beauty Academy for his studies was a decision that Brayden considers as a game-changer in his career. “The French sets a precedent for the evolution of the beauty industry and takes a step away from the traditional ‘beauty school’ education,” Brayden explained. “Since completing my studies with The French, I have realized they are the leaders in the beauty education industry.”

What motivated you to pursue a career in beauty therapy?

I’ve experienced acne myself since my early teenage years. I have felt the impact on self-confidence first-hand and wanted to learn about holistically treating the skin and providing outstanding results for my clients.

Along the way, I have learnt the complex and interesting structure of our biggest organ, the skin. Oh and the best part? Lasers are super fun.

What was your main motivation for studying at the French?

The French Beauty academy sets a precedent for the evolution of the beauty industry and takes a step away from the traditional “beauty school” education. Since completing my studies with The French, I have now realised they are the leaders in the beauty education industry.

What was your favourite part about studying at the French? How would you describe your experience from the day you started at orientation?

My favourite part of studying at The French was learning the impact of beauty and wellness for an individual.

The first day at orientation was definitely nerve-wracking – but it doesn’t last long! Be open to new experiences. The team building activities are the quickest way to make friends to share your journey with.

How did the French help prepare you for life as a professional beauty therapist?

The French offers support in multiple ways. During your experience, you learn the skills to perform treatments in the industry. you will also learn the importance of presentation, interviews and resumes. You are also provided countless opportunities to meet industry experts and receive a foot in the door.

Did you have a favourite teacher / subject at the french? Why?

Advanced Facials was definitely my favourite class! I had an amazing teacher, Amy, who went above and beyond to ensure we had all the knowledge we would need when we began working in clinics. Despite not typically being taught during the diploma, I completed my studies with additional knowledge in the beauty and medispa industry.

What were some of the invaluable lessons or most important thing that you learnt at The French that you have been able to apply to your new career?

One thing that The French taught me was you never stop learning in the industry. It motivates me every single day.

What is the best advice you received from your study at The French?

“When one door closes, another one will always open” Has definitely stuck with me throughout the past few years.

How easy was it for you to gain work after graduating? Tell me about your first career ‘break’?

My education through The French opened many doors of opportunity. I had a full time job in my dream industry before even completing my Diploma.

What is the best advice you received from your study at The French?

What elements of your study allowed you to obtain your new job? Were there any specific skills that you learned from your time at The French that you then highlighted in order to be hired?

The French curriculum supports all areas of the beauty industry. One that particularly stood out in the dermal field is the Maintain Infection Control unit, this is crucial for performing laser and skin penetration treatments in Queensland.

How are The French graduates perceived out in the industry?

The name of the French Beauty Academy to me indicates an incredibly well trained therapist. I have hired and trained many fresh beauty graduates, but I will always opt for a Frenchie first!

What do you most enjoy about your new job? Has there been a memorable moment since you graduated?

I think the most exciting moment for me since graduating was receiving my unrestricted license for laser treatments. It was the moment everything felt so right for me.

Describe a day in the life of you at work...

My current role supports training for new and current therapists for Laser Clinics Australia.

I care for 22 clinics across Queensland and Northern Territory. Depending on the week, I might be teaching locally in Brisbane, or enjoying sunny Cairns for the week. It is so exciting being able to travel across Australia for my job, particularly when seeing cities and towns I would never usually have the opportunity to see.

Why is it so exciting to work within the beauty industry right now?

We truly are in one one of the biggest industries globally. With unlimited avenues to explore from cosmetic formulating to providing beautifying treatments, to performing advanced laser treatments to correct skin concerns.

What advice would you give to students who are wanting to study a Diploma in Beauty Therapy and Screen Media at The French Beauty Academy.

Just do it! The beauty industry is so vast and diverse, there are jobs to cater for all individual needs. Don’t ever feel you are constrained to working in traditional Beauty Therapy.

What are your goals for the next few years? Do you have an ultimate career ambition?

I have only recently stepped into a national training role. My goal is to aid in creating incredibly talented laser and dermal therapists. My ultimate career ambition is to provide safe and effective treatments within the aesthetics industry.
