What I learnt in my year at The French

As a graduate of The French Beauty Academy, I can honestly say that choosing to study my Beauty Therapy Diploma there was the best decision I have ever made. Not only did I learn everything I needed to know about my career from the amazing educators, I also learnt valuable things about myself and was able to grow and spread my wings.

It’s OK to make mistakes

I started the course lacking confidence as a shy, nervous girl who had trouble coming out of her shell under any circumstance. The French Beauty Academy helped me realise that it’s okay to make mistakes and that the academy was the perfect place to make them, because you grow so much more by making mistakes and learning from them.  You shouldn’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions, which is something that I struggled to do in the course. Asking questions about things you don’t understand is the perfect way to learn and gain confidence in everything you do. You have a year to make as many mistakes and to ask as many questions as you can. Do not be afraid because it will all be worth it in the end!

Student Salon is the place where you really grow

Don’t be nervous about Student Salon, spending time there is where you become skilled at all treatments and become confident working with clients before you start working in the industry. Spend each salon day gaining as much knowledge and understanding as you can about different clients. Don’t ever forget that the clients all know you are learning, so don’t stress yourself out and don’t be disappointed if you make a mistake. The educators at The Academy and in the salon are amazing and very understanding; they are the best therapists that teach you everything that you need to know in the Beauty Therapy industry. They are perfect role models.

Keep focused

Not going to academy everyday will only lead to stress, as every day is crucial and important. Remaining focused throughout the whole year and trying your hardest as well as showing up every day will be worth it and you will get noticed. I told myself before I started the course that I didn’t want to finish it and thought I could have done better. So I tried my hardest, studied when I needed to, always handed in my assignments on time and really focused on my goals and dreams. I ended up being in the Top 5 of the Academy and also achieving my dream job thanks to my mentor Eve Kelly. This all would not have been possible if I did not remain focused the whole year.

It’s worth it

The French Beauty Academy is the most amazing academy with so many opportunities if you put 100% in, so don’t waste the year away and create the best year of your life surrounded by the best people.
