8. For the Domestic Goddess – Cire Trudon Candles  $121.00 AUD

In 1643 a salesman named Claude Trudon arrived in Paris and became the owner of a store in Rue Saint-Honoré.  On the eve of Louis XIV’s reign, Trudon created a small  wax manufacturing business that was to carry his name forward and make his family fortune.   Trudon grew and began supplying the French court and the most important churches. The Trudon company supplied the Palace of Versailles until the very end of the monarchy, as well as being Napoleon’s wax producer during the Empire.  It is now the oldest and most prestigious wax manufacturer in the world.  The glass domes hold the scent of the candle in and bring a little french history into your living room.  Our favourite scent is – L’Admirable – “The scent of Eternal Cologne, fair and virginal, left behind by Eugénie and Winterhalter’s flower girls. An imperial bee breaks into a dance around the gusty vapors of ruffled citrus fruits and bitter orange.”  With that description – it makes you want to buy all of them! Warning – they are addictive.

9. For the Lady with a Sweet Tooth – Macaron Box by Ladurée – $29.00

The story of the Ladurée macaron starts in 1862 with Pierre Desfontaines, who first thought  of taking two macaron shells and joining them with a delicious ganache filling.  Since this time, the recipe has not changed.  The infamous Ladurée pâtisserie has recently opened in Sydney – where you can purchase a box of macarons and have them delivered to you at home.  They keep for 3 days in the fridge after purchase.  If you are a macaron beginner – go for passionfruit, pistachio or raspberry.

Oscar-winning Sofia Coppola brings to the screen an imaginative interpretation of the life of France’s legendary teenage queen, Marie Antoinette. It’s a fascinating perspective on French history, as well as being totally indulgent and girly. The fabulous frocks, food and parties will have you swooning – a perfect pre-cursor to Christmas Day.
