The French Difference

#FRENCHIES Because there’s one thing stronger than magic: sisterhood

The French is home to a tribe of real, powerful women who celebrate, uplift and empower each other. We share the same spirit and carry the same heart. We nurture the aspirations of our beauties, giving them the freedom and igniting the fight to realize their hopes and dreams.

“It’s like a home away from home, I came in to study as a mature student, and feel I have been embraced 100%, from the students to the teachers and the staff. There is a sense of belonging, and I feel like I will be a part of this family for a long time!”
– Emerald Golightly, Alumni

“I chose The French because The French embodies everything I want to be. It has such a well respected reputation and I had only heard nothing but the best about it.”
– Tamika Anderson, Alumni

ORIENTATION WEEK

What to expect in this important week

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR CONFIRMATION OF ENROLMENT FOR YOUR ORIENTATION DATE

Your first day at The French

Feeling anxious about making friends on your first day? You’re not alone! It’s actually one of the most common fears all soon-to-be #Frenchies have before they embark on their studies. Experiencing nerves before your first day is totally normal. We all worry about what others will think about us, will we fit in, will people be nice, will we be accepted… But at The French, you don’t have to be worried because you already have some friends – they’re the ones in the pink scarfs!

Our wonderful Student Ambassadors are friendly, kind and can’t wait to meet you and show you the ropes. They are always on campus, willing to listen, ready to help if you are ever feeling lost or overwhelmed.

To get you started on the right foot, we have designed a specialised Orientation schedule which is dedicated to ensuring you are fully prepared and dressed for success, both personally and professionally. Upon arrival to campus, you’ll be introduced into your chorts (named after amazing pioneering women in history) where we have a number of activities planned to get you comfortable and you’ll find out everything you need to know before your first official class! We’re here to help and our friendly staff and educators are here to answer all your questions, big or small.

Meet our league of Pioneering Women

Introducing you to The French’s league of Pioneering Women. These are some of the legendary women that inspire our cohort (class) names and influence our French values.  You will be assigned your cohort in orientation week! Which Pioneering Women will you be?

Common questions a lot of new Frenchies have!

Students must meet a number of citizenship, residency and academic entry requirements to be eligible for a VET Student Loan. They include:

Citizenship:

  • an Australian citizen, or
  • a qualifying New Zealand citizen, or
  • a permanent humanitarian visa holder, who is usually resident in Australia.

Academic:

  • provide an Australian Year 12 Certificate; OR
  • provide evidence of successful completion of an AQF Certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English);
  • display competence at Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy through an approved Language, Literacy and Numeracy test.

Age:

  • If under the age of 18 student (at first census date) they must complete 2 VSL Parental Consent forms, (unless the student is certified as independent, in which case evidence must be provided of independence)

To check your eligibility use the VET Student Loans Eligibility Tool on the Australian Government MySkills website. This tool should be used as a guide only.

Students must also read this booklet before applying for VET Student Loans. VET Student Loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements. A VET student loan gives rise to a HELP debt that continues to be a debt to the Commonwealth until it is repaid.

If you have any questions about eligibility please call our friendly Student Advisors on +61 07 3267 0297 or email courses@thefrench.edu.au

If you do not have an Australian year 12 Certificate or have not successfully completed a Certificate IV or higher qualification, you must sit an approved Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test and be assessed as competent at Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy.

Our Diploma programs have an official orientation week where we cover a number of key activities and sessions to get you comfortable, meet your peers and educators and find out everything you need to know before your official first class. Learn more here.

You will receive your uniform during your orientation week. Don’t worry, we have lots of sizes available and you will be able to try them on.
