Our School Engagement program is available in both QLD and South Australia and supports students to develop knowledge and apply skills directly relevant to a future career pathway. Through our Vocational Education Pathways students also have exclusive opportunities for early offers and direct entry into our post-school qualification programs.

How To Enrol A Student

Step 1

Reach out to our School Engagement team

If you have a student interested in our VET Program, reach out to our Schools Engagement team (below).

Step 2

Student Will Receive and Complete Student Consent Form

Our team will share a schools consent form with you. This will need to be completed and returned with the Students USI.

Step 3

The French will arrange a course interview

Our team will contact the student to arrange a course application interview. If they wish to study, the student will need to complete a commitment to enrol form.

Step 4

Student to Attend Campus

Enrolled students must attend a Parent Information session or independent campus tour before eligible to commence classes.

Why Study a Vocational Education and Training Course in Secondary School

Complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification and a South Australian secondary school certificate at the same time. Go directly into employment or receive credit towards further vocational training Develop employability and industry-specific skills

Stackable VET – Introduction to Make-Up: 

The course is timetabled one day per week for 6  weeks and follows the South Australia Secondary School term, with intakes each term. Class hours are 9am-3:00pm – 65 nominal hours:

  • Research and Apply Beauty Industry Information (SHBMRES003) 
  • Organise personal work requirements (SIRXIND003) 20 nominal hours

 

Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics QLD (SHB20121)

The course is timetabled one day per week for 36 weeks and follows the QLD School Term Timetable Class hours are 9am – 3pm one day per week with intakes twice per year 4 QCE points  Advanced Beauty Services

  • The course is timetabled one day per week for 20 weeks and follows the South Australia Secondary School term.
  • Class hours are 9am-4:00pm with intakes each Semester
  • 160 nominal hours – 20 SACE Stage 2 credits:
    • Provide Lash and Brow Services (SHBBFAS004)  30 nominal hours
    • Apply Eyelash  Extensions (SHBBMUP008)  40 nominal hours
    • Provide Manicure and Pedicare Services(SHBBNLS007)  60 nominal hours
    • Use electric file equipment for nail services (SHBBNLS011 ) 30 nominal hours

Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics SA (SHB20121)

The course is timetabled one day per week for 36 weeks and follows the South Australia Secondary School Term.

Class hours are 9am – 4pm one day per week with intakes twice per year

75 SACE points Stage 1 525 nominal hours

  • Advanced Makeup
    • The course is timetabled one day per week for 20 weeks and follows the South Australia Secondary School term. Class hours are 9am-4:00pm
  • 160 nominal hours – 20 SACE Stage 2 credits
    • Design and apply make-up for photography ( SHBBMUP010) 30  nominal hours
    • Design and apply creative makeup (SHBBMUP013) 50  nominal hours
    • SHBXCCS008 – Provide salon services to clients 30 nominal hours
    • Determine resource requirements for new business ventures (BSBESB304) 50  nominal hours

Successful completion of:

  • Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics (SHB2012) contributes towards 75 SACE Stage 1 credits. 
  • Advanced Beauty Services contributes towards 20 SACE Stage 2 credits
  • Advanced Make Up contributes towards 20 SACE Stage 2 credits

By attending regularly, students not only absorb knowledge but also benefit from interactions with our educators and classmates, fostering a supportive learning environment. Consistency helps build discipline and keeps students on track, reducing the risk of falling behind and making it easier to excel in both assessments and hands-on practice.

For those students who need additional learner support, there are teachers available outside of class time for students to seek help with assignment and exam strategy, as well as practical skill performance.

The beauty industry is an ever-growing employment sector with a wide range of career opportunities that cross over into fashion, media, the creative arts, tourism, retail, education, health, rehabilitation therapies, product development and so much more. Technology innovations and changing consumer demands open up a whole suite of new and exciting career pathways for which a diploma at The French is the ultimate starting point.
