French Alumni, Sarah Walter-Girout has big dreams and she is well on the way to making them a reality! Aspiring to work as a sought-after hair and makeup designer for some of biggest films and TV series across the globe, she recently worked on the filming of Hollywood blockbuster, Thor here in Australia!
We spoke with Sarah about her experience studying our Certificate IV in Retail Makeup & Skincare and what she’s been up to post-graduation!….

When did you realise your dream career and passion?
I’ve always been in love with hair & make-up and all things beauty. As far back as I can remember I was always doing my girlfriends hair & makeup.

Of its great reputation and stylish aesthetic. As soon as I walked through the doors I knew this is where I was meant to be to further my career as a makeup artist.

Always take time to enjoy every moment – good or bad and trust the process. Time management is also top of my list.

Where did studying at The French take you? …
Studying at The French allowed me to meet amazing Educators including Kerryn Flewell- Smith. Kerryn has been influential in my career and has exposed me to movie sets where I have learnt so much. I am truly grateful to The French and Kerryn. This is only the Beginning!
What has been the most exciting career achievement since graduating?
I had the opportunity to work on Thor the movie recently. It was one of the most amazing experiences ever for me!
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I see myself well established in my career. I will still be expanding my skills and enjoying everyday life with my beautiful husband and our cute babies to come!
If you could give any advice to students who are nearing completion of their studies, what would it be?
The best advice I could give to students about to complete their course would be to give it your all, all the way to the end. Be consistent and focused as hard work ALWAYS pays off. The reward is so sweet at the end – so keep pushing.
