Carla spent the first 10 years of her working life as a fashion stylist before turning her attention to beauty writing. But the allure quickly wore off as she became alarmed by the synthetic substances and toxins contained in many commercial beauty products. She began writing about healthier, natural alternatives made from plants and organic foods and wrote her first book,Feeding Your Skin.
By then she was a mother of two small children, who are now teenagers. When her daughter began to experience similar skin issues to the eczema and allergies she herself had experienced as a child, Carla put her family on a gut-healing protocol that included probiotic-rich, lacto-fermented wholefoods. Very quickly Carla noticed a profound difference in her daughter’s skin, as well as the improved well being of the whole family.
When friends and family began asking why her skin looked so glowy’, Carla realised the power of the gut-skin connection and the importance of beauty from the inside out. She began experimenting with lacto-fermenting superfoods in her Bondi Kitchen and this eventually led to the creation of GLOW—The Beauty Chef’s first inner beauty powder.
GLOW, which launched in 2009, was the world’s first living,bio-fermented, probiotic inner beauty product and created a whole new category of ingestible beauty products. In 2020 Carla Released a SUPERCHARGED FORMULA, with even more potency and probiotics, plus new skin-and-gut-loving ingredients.
The Beauty Chef was the first beauty brand to focus on cultivating good gut health for healthy skin–pioneering the philosophy of ‘beauty from the inside out’ and ‘beauty begins in the belly’®. The visionary recognition of the link between balanced microbiome (good gut health) and beautiful skin led Carla being named a “Skincare Innovator” by Net-a-Porter’sThe Edit magazine.
Carla was also a guest speaker at the 2019 WWD Beauty Summit in New York and won the 2017 beauty category at the Instyle & Audi Women of Style Awards in Australia. In 2019,COLLAGEN Inner Beauty Boost was a JONES Beauty Award winner and SLEEP Inner Beauty Support was named as one of ‘The 7 Best Wellbeing Products of 2018-2019’ by Harper’sBazaar Australia.
Carla’s third book, The Beauty Chef Gut Guide, was a 2020 James Beard Award nominee and includes 90+ delicious recipes and weekly meal plans to help readers heal, weed, seed and feed their gut. The Beauty Chef Cookbook, published in 2017, was also a James Beard Award nominee.
The Beauty Chef range now includes 10 inner beauty products and two outer beauty products. Every product is a blend of organic and natural, nutrient-dense wholefood ingredients with prebiotics and probiotics, all microbiologist-approved to fortify skin on the inside and out.
Carla works on her unique formulas with a team of leading microbiologists, nutritionists and naturopaths, employing cutting-edge research to ensure the efficacy of her existing products and develop innovative new products that will be market leaders.
By raising awareness of the link between beauty and gut health,Carla has shown that beauty really is more than skin deep.
She firmly believes it’s an inside out process.

Danielle Featherstone-Price is a trailblazer within the UK beauty industry. With humble beginnings in 1998, she opened her first small business, a nail & beauty bar that gave her a taste of the entrepreneurial innovation to come. Only a short few years later, she developed Lifespa, an award-winning Dermalogica and Elemis day spa. The spa thrived, but still, something was missing… and that something was Strip!
In 2005, partnering with her sister Maria-Lousie Featherstone the first Strip Boutique opened its doors to the UK public. Strip has been in the spotlight for the last decade for revolutionising the beauty industry and the UK’s approach to hair removal. Its unique combination of unparalleled treatments and indulgent lingerie has had editors and celebrities from around the globe caught up in the buzz and lining up for an appointment!
Danielle works tirelessly to push the boundaries at Strip, keeping the company on a path to success, resulting in the rapid growth of 7 boutique locations in key neighbourhoods in London; Notting Hill, Chelsea, Soho, City, Islington, Essex and a concession in Harvey Nichols, Bristol; with still more progression on the books for 2017. Strip was rewarded for such dedication in both 2010 and 2014 with the distinction of Harper’s Bazaar’s esteemed Best Waxing Salon Award.
In addition to the foundation of Strip, Danielle & her sister Maria-Louise are also responsible for the development of Strip Distribution in 2007. Strip Distribution has sole rights to the import and distribution of Lycon Wax, Lycon Spa and South Seas Body Care within the UK and parts of the EU. Thanks to Strip Distribution, Lycon is now a household name in the waxing industry. To complement the product distribution, Danielle & Maria-Louise founded the Strip Training Academy in 2008, accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists and a leader in hair removal techniques for both qualified and unqualified beauty therapists.
