Beauty Therapists provide a wide range of treatment options including the core salon classics like waxing, massage, eyelash tinting, eyebrow shaping, makeup, manicures and pedicures, body treatments, aromatherapy and spa therapies. They also use their knowledge of skin science to perform facials and provide highly personalised cosmeceutical skincare recommendations. Clients come to beauty therapists for all of their beauty needs to uplift, rejuvenate and enhance their natural beauty.

How long does it take to become a beauty therapist?

The nationally recognised and accredited SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy and SHB50216 Diploma of Salon Management is completed in 12 months when studying 3 days per week. Many students of this course secure employment before graduation due to high industry demand for skilled workers.

How much does a beauty therapist make?

Starting salaries for a beauty therapist begin at $65,000 which is on par with the Australian entry level salary. There are many ways to increase earnings including growing into management positions (which this course trains you for), mastering product retailing and building a network of trusted clients who generate repeat business.

Study An Eyelash Extension Short Course At Our Brisbane Campus

Our SHBBMUP001 Eyelash Extension Course Brisbane runs over six intensive evenings.

You’ll be hands on applying individual lash extensions on your model, learning and recommending maintenance, infills and post treatment care. Upon completion you will be a fully equipped lash technician and be able to add this in-demand treatment to your service menu or freelance business.

As part of the course cost you will receive an Eyelash Extension Kit which means that you will be able to start offering Eyelash Extension services straight away upon completion of the course.

Do I need prior experience?

No prior experience is necessary — our eyelash lift & tint course is designed for beginners and established beauty therapists alike, as we provide comprehensive training suitable for any experience level.

Do I need to bring my own model for the lash lift course?

Client models will be required regularly throughout the course for assessment. Please note we open these bookings to the public as well to book appointments. Students are strongly encouraged to provide their own models.

How much do lash techs make in Australia?

Qualified lash technicians in Australia can earn between $50-$120 per treatment, with experienced technicians working full-time earning up to $70,000+ annually. Of course, this very much depends on your location, experience, hours and clientele.

With starting salaries beginning at $65,000 per annum plus incentives this course sets you up to advance your career and help maximise your earning potential. Those in management positions in spas and clinics are often incentivised and remunerated based on their success in driving the performance of the business and teams.

*$10,800 with no co-payment required for students eligible for VET Student Loans.

There are two main ways you can pay for this course: state and national government subsidies and loans, or private finance options such as loans and payment plans.

Government funding loan programs help eligible students cover tuition fees over the duration of the course and the loan is then repaid through the tax system based on income, while some states offer subsidies, meaning the government pays for all or some of your course.

If you are not eligible for government funding, students are able to borrow partial or full funding for this course from a number of private providers – or our recommended partnered provider Zeefi (formerly Study Loans) – with extended loan periods of up to 48 months. Students who privately pay for their Beauty Diploma course must pay a deposit to secure their placement.

Admissions Criteria

As such, all students enrolling in to this course – regardless of funding option – are required to meet the academic requirements:

provide an Australian Year 12 Certificate; or
provide evidence of successful completion of an AQF Certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English); OR
display competence at Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy through an approved Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test

If the applicant is under the age of 18 (at first census date) they must complete two VSL Parental Consent forms, (unless the student is certified as independent, in which case evidence must be provided of independence).
