Chaired by Paula Joye, leading fashion and lifestyle authority and founder of style website thejoye.com and including CEO’s, entrepreneurs, fashion and beauty luminaries and those within the education sector, we are truly humbled to have our agenda set by an incredible collective of enterprising individuals who know firsthand the power of education to build dreams, build brands and to build business.

Executive Advisory Board Chair,

With a career that spans newspapers, magazines and television, Paula Joye is one of Australia's most well regarded journalists. Paula began her career in the fashion cupboard at Vogue working her way through the ranks before becoming editor of CLEO at just 27. By 2004, Paula had created and launched Madison and Shop Til You Drop publications and was Editorial Director of Cleo and Cosmopolitan. In 2011 she left the magazine world, working as National Fashion Editor for Fairfax newspapers and launching her popular lifestyle website - www.thejoye.com

Paula now embraces both old and new media as a columnist, digital publisher and Style Reporter for Mornings on the Nine Network.

Mireille Guiliano
Former Veuve Clicquot CEO and international best-selling author of 'French Women Don't Get Fat'

Internationally best-selling author, former CEO and President of Clicquot, Inc. (LVMH) and long time spokesperson for Champagne Veuve Clicquot, Mireille Guiliano (Meer-ray Julie-ano) is recognized as “an ambassador of France and its art of living,” by the French daily Le FigaroUSA Today further dubbed her “the high priestess of French lady wisdom.”

Her book, French Women Don't Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure was number 1 on The New York Times Bestseller list and has been translated into 39 languages. As an expert in positioning and growing ultra-premium brands, she is one of the few women who have reached the top echelon of the wine and spirits as well as luxury goods industry.

A champion of women in business, Mireille also works with groups promoting business opportunities and education for women and frequently presents nationally and internationally on business topics.

Current editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia and with over 20 years experience in the luxury fashion market working across premium titles like The Australian, Edwina McCann is one of the industries most renowned, respected and highly regarded editors.

Edwina has spearheaded the creation of the Australian Fashion Chamber (AFC) to nurture and promote Australia’s fashion design community. She acts as chairperson of the AFC, which is recognised as a sister association of the British Fashion Council and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

In 2014 Edwina was named in the Business of Fashion 500, a professional index of the people shaping the global fashion industry, in 2015 awarded number one of B&T’s 30 Most Powerful Women in Media Powerlist and sits on the University of Technology Business Advisory Board.

News Presenter on Channel 9’s the Today Show and trained journalist, Sylvia Jeffreys is one of the most familiar faces on news and current affairs programs.

Launching her career in Brisbane before moving to the networks Sydney Headquarters, Sylvia has filed highly praised stories for Nine News, been the Today Show’s Sydney reporter, co-hosted Weekend Today and presented the weather on Sydney’s highest-rating evening news bulletin.

Making her mark as an experienced MC and hosting a range of charity and corporate events, Sylvia has a wealth of experience in both traditional and online media with an avid social media following of her own.

Professor Elizabeth Roberts
Dean - School of Business & Tourism Southern Cross University

Dean and Foundation Head, School of Business and Tourism at Southern Cross University, Professor Elizabeth Roberts, Ph.D., oversees both undergraduate and postgraduate programs delivered externally and on four campuses; Gold Coast, Lismore, Coffs Harbour and The Hotel School Sydney.

A passionate educator with a Ph.D. in Classical Rhetoric and Composition from Purdue University, her areas of teaching are human resource management, multicultural management, managerial communication, organisational behaviour and strategic management.

Elizabeth held senior University management posts for the past 16 years and has taught on the University level for over 30 years, was a three time recipient of a Teacher of the Year Award at Cornell, has published numerous articles in business communication and hospitality journals and has delivered over eighty presentations and papers in the U.S. and internationally.

Australian fashion industry icon and previous Fashion Manager for the Australian Fashion Awards

For over 40 years, Di Cant has been a leading figure in the Australian fashion industry, having styled, compered and attended countless fashion shows and season launches including Versace, Missoni, Calvin Klein and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Holding the position of Fashion Manager for the Australian Fashion Design Awards for nearly three decades and head fashion educator for June Dally Watkins modelling and deportment school for 40 years, Di has extensive knowledge of Fashion styling and imaging, regularly consulting to both the professional and private sectors.

Di also has a large involvement with charities, helping raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research, leukaemia and many children's causes.
John van der Wallen

John van der Wallen
Asset Manager of the Starhill Hotel Group Mariott Hotels)

John van der Wallen is Asset Manager for Starhill Hotel Group a subsidiary of YTL Hotels which is the owner of the large Marriott hotels located in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

John oversees the investment performance of the groups’ Australian hotels and the team responsible for its delivery, which includes monitoring business plans on an individual asset basis, performance reviews, as well as managing the relationships with Marriott.

As a graduate of the Cornell Hotel School in New York, John has a wealth of hotel operational knowledge, solid credentials in hotel refurbishment and re-positioning of hotels, as well as significant experience in both the acquisition and disposition of hotels.

With qualifications in sociology, psychology, business and marketing, Sherelle French has forged a high level global career driving business planning, management, marketing and sales for corporations operating in the telecommunications, property development, information technology and the tertiary education sectors.

Under her stewardship, The French Beauty Academy has grown to become Australia’s most prestigious training provider for the beauty industry and the preferred choice of leading employers.

Driven by her desire to bridge the divide between training outcomes and industry needs, she and the senior management team have revolutionised The Academy’s education agenda, introducing an innovative Service Excellence Program that incorporates a mentor-based personal development experience.

Their mission is to help us revolutionise beauty education with a holistic approach to study built around personal development and reflection; to dream big, to open doors that others can’t, to make the impossible, possible for our students.

This group of pioneers bring big ideas to The Academy and a wealth of unimaginable connections to our students. From opening doors to dream careers, the prestigious partnership awards presented at graduation, career wisdoms and advice, to the evolution of our Service Excellence Program, these Board members create opportunities so that our students are connected, inspired and are given a head start on their path in beauty and wellness.
