Don’t just take our word for it… We are incredibly proud of our alumni who have gone onto create amazing careers.
Many of them came to us straight out of Year 12, fired with enthusiasm, passionate about all things ‘beauty’ and determined to reach for their dreams. Others have dropped out of school and arrive at The Academy feeling a bit lost and not really knowing what they wanted to do with their lives. We have a lot of older students, looking for a career change or needing qualifications that would allow them to get a good job to support their families.
And there are the ones who inspire us with their courage – escaping from an unsafe family environment … or dealing with homelessness … or feeling totally unworthy and lacking in self-esteem. When we read their incredible success stories, we are truly inspired by what they have achieved. We hope you will be too…
Chanelle Morrison – Class of 2011
Position: Dermal therapist, Dr Ian Holten Australian Skin Face Body
When Chanelle graduated from high school she completed her studies in beauty therapy and began work in the industry, but she always knew she wanted to work in an advanced field of beauty. With a dream of securing a job working for a plastic surgeon with a skin and laser clinic, Chanelle enrolled in our Advanced Diploma of Health Science, where she excelled and was awarded the Rationale Skincare Student of the Year Award.
With some help from The Academy, Chanelle secured her dream position before she graduated, and she was thrilled to begin her work with a plastic surgeon. Through her hard work and dedication, Chanelle is now not only working as a dermal therapist, but also running the clinic. Chanelle plans to continue her work in this area, and hopes to also get her qualifications in nursing in the future.
What I enjoyed most about learning at The Academy was: I loved the hands-on experience and the in-clinic training. The lectures were great and the teachers were amazing!
Camille Cook – Class of 2005
Position: Queensland Field Trainer, Ella Bache
Camille Cook is an inspiring lesson in what wonderful things can happen when you work hard and love what you do. After graduating from her Diploma of Beauty Therapy, Camille began work as a beauty therapist and soon moved to a casual position with Ella Bache.
The biggest lesson Camille learned at The Academy was to be thorough in all you do, and this has set her in good stead as she has worked her way up at Ella Bache, from casual to full-time, to 2IC, to Manager.
Now, as Queensland Field Trainer, Camille travels around the state training and developing staff at Ella Bache salons and David Jones counters. Every day, she empowers, encourages and trains therapists on how to provide customers with the very best service and treatments, and loves to educate about Ella Bache’s results-driven products.
Camille says she loves knowing every day that she can make someone feel special and confident about themselves.
What I have learned about the beauty industry is: The beauty industry is such an exciting and ever changing industry. The opportunities are endless for those who work hard!
Bronwyn Roberston – Class of 2011
Position: Customer support and training manager, Jasmin Organics
A lover of all things beauty-related from the age of 5, it wasn’t until she was 26 that Bronwyn decided to make beauty her career. After high school, Bronwyn studied tourism and hospitality, and backpacked around Australia and Europe before deciding that what she really wanted to do was work in the beauty industry.
Bronwyn’s goal was originally to become a beauty therapist but after exploring her options and talking with various industry professionals and her teachers, she decided that she wanted to be a trainer for a skincare house, and eventually a teacher, so she can help inspire and educate other students.
Bronwyn has worked hard and found many opportunities within the industry to work towards achieving her goal. She interned at the prestigious Aman resort in Cambodia arranged through The Academy, and she has also been invited to join an industry advisory committee to work alongside some very inspirational women. She learnt through her studies to never give up on where she wants to go or the goals that she wants to achieve.
My best career advice is: Love what you do. Be true to what you do and, most importantly, enjoy what you do! The beauty industry is bigger than you think – the possibilities are endless. If you are passionate to learn and love to nurture then this is the industry for you.
Jazz Daaé Du Bois – Class of 2011
Position: Beauty and Massage Therapist, Endota
Jazz has a thirst for knowledge and continues to study to further develop his skills and abilities. After he completed high school, Jazz’s parents weren’t thrilled about their son studying beauty therapy, so he studied a Diploma of Aromatherapy. But once this was complete there was no stopping him.
Now, Jazz has qualifications in aromatherapy, beauty therapy, hot stone massage, day spa techniques, remedial massage, photographic make-up and air brush make-up. Not only is he enjoying his position as a beauty and massage therapist at Endota in Melbourne, he has also provided make-up services for photo shoots, film clips and even a short film.
Jazz is excited to see what the future holds and is open to the possibilities ahead, but he has a passion for helping people deal with genetic skin conditions and plans to continue to work in the area of skin.
The most important thing The Academy gave me is: The basis of my skills and knowledge, to be confident within myself and grow into the therapist I am today.

Lauren Holmes – Class of 2008
Position: Owner, Raw Beauty
Lauren decided at the age of 13 she wanted to be a beauty therapist, and a year after finishing high school, she decided to make that dream a reality by enrolling in a Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
Not only did she excel in her studies, but she missed her own graduation because she secured a job on a cruise ship straight away and was halfway to London! Since then, Lauren has built up her experience with several salons and, in 2012, she fulfilled her ambition of opening her own salon.
Passionate about alternative treatments, Lauren isn’t finished with her ambitions yet. She hopes to build Raw Beauty up into a franchise business so she can spread the word about the wonders of natural and organic beauty care.
Lauren credits The Academy with giving her the skills she needed to succeed in the beauty industry. She says her education was a cut above the rest – in both personal and professional training, and that being her own boss and following her passion means that nothing she does ever feels like work.
The way I define beauty is: Beauty is being the best possible version of yourself on the inside and out.
Zoe Hinton – Class of 2006

Since graduating in 2006, Zoe’s career has taken her to positions as Spa Team Leader and Trainer for Harbour Day Spa, and Head Therapist for Spa Chakra at Hayman Island.
The best part of my job is: I get to work with an amazing product with incredible results! I love to inspire, train and teach beauty therapists and ignite passion in what they do. Helping build and develop businesses is extremely rewarding. It’s not a job, it’s a passion!
