What is skin needling?

Just as we do, our cells need effective communication to function properly.

One way we can stimulate this communication, and aid in getting more active ingredients from our topical treatments into our skin is with cosmetic needling.

So what is cosmetic needling?

It is a procedure that involves puncturing the skin at a depth of between 0.2 and 0.3 mm multiple times with small needles attached to a personal-use cylindrical roller. The needles at this length only penetrate the upper levels of the skin and, therefore, do not cause bleeding or pain.

The needles cause micro-injuries that the skin then works hard to heal itself, and it also produces more collagen for up to 12 months afterwards. When using the roller on a regular basis, we are stimulating our cell-to-cell communication. This then has a knock-on effect with an increase in collagen and elastin production. It can also improve atrophic (depressed) acne scarring. The procedure has been performed for many years, with a variety of different methods being used.

This is a great way to ‘feed’ your living skin cells and allow them to function as optimally as possible.
